10 Harley Davidson Facts You Didn't Know

You have seen them on the road. You have seen them in stores. You have seen them in the movies. There is nothing like it. They are not even legends anymore. They make legends. The one and only Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Among the legends there are some facts you might not know. Here is just a few of them.
1. 1901 William S. Harley came up with a blue print of an engine that was intended to fit in a bicycle. He was 21 years old at that time. Three years later, William and Arthur Davidson worked in a factory with dimensions of 10X15ft made of wood, where the first ever Harley Davidson motorcycle roared to life.
2. Henry Meyer was the first customer of the Harley bike in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.
3. In 1904, Chicago was the location of C.H.Lang, the first Harley Davidson dealer.
4. 1905, the Harley motorcycle won a race for the first time. 1910 USA, marked a lot of firsts for the Harley in competition as it bagged all first place in hill climbs, endurance and speed races. This was also the time when the first Harley Davidson full time employee was hired in Milwaukee.
5. In 1906, a bigger factory for the HD was constructed on Juneau Ave with now 6 full time employees. The first Harley Davidson catalogue was released in the same year. The name "Silent Gray Fellow" was launched for the first time depicting the color and the silent engine of the motorcycle.
6. The first woman to ride a Harley was Janet Davidson; however it was not confirmed if the motor was running though. Janet is an aunt of the Davidson boys and helped out with pin striping and painting the letters on the motorcycles. Speculation is, one way or the other she climbed onto one of the firsts Harleys making her the first ever woman to ride one.
7. The first v-twin power engine was introduced in 1909 with a 49.5ci and 7 horse power. This is the same engine that produces the trademark Harley engine "potato" sound. This was also the same year when spare parts were made available to the public.
8. The founder of Forbes magazine Malcolm Forbes one of the wealthiest men, began riding HarleyDavidson motorcycles at the age of 40 and has loved it ever since. He was so fond of Harleys that he gave them as gifts to friends besides having 50 of his own.
8. 1998 Manaus, Brazil is the first HD assembly operations off USA shores.
9. The first Harley used a tomato can for a carburetor.
10. The most expensive Harley is the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide where only 4,200 were made with a whopping 40k price tag.
And the list of Harley facts goes on and on, facts that are made every year with its continuing legacy. No one ever imagined that an improvisation, a dream that was laid on to a racer bike could have come such a long way. As a Harley will always be a Harley, so will a legend continue to be a legend.
Harry Ford is an experienced writer that is also a massive fan of Harley rides. He has enjoyed riding from the moment he learned to ride Harley Davidsons through to his many Harley ride adventures across Australia. Harry Ford thinks everyone can participate in Harley rides and hopes that more people participate in the sport. Ford Focus

2012 Ford Focus Review

An all-new 2012 Ford Focus goes on sale early in 2011. Ford Motor Company revealed the upcoming Focus at the January 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The 2012 Focus is a C-sized small car rife with new technology, new powertrains and new customer features, some of which are not offered by other cars in this class. This is a huge market segment that accounts for 2 million units of production every year and includes the Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, Mazda 3, and the upcoming Chevrolet Cruze. The Focus has been a big success for Ford since its initial launch in 1998, selling more than 9.2 million cars worldwide from production plants in Germany, Russia, Spain, the Philippines, China, South Africa, and Vietnam.
In the U.S., the Focus will be available in five-door hatchback and four-door sedan versions. In Europe, the Focus is also available as a three-door hatchback, including a 300-horsepower RS model.
The new Focus will be built around an entirely new Ford powertrain, starting with an all-aluminum 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that features both a Denso direct fuel injection system and TiVCT, twin independent variable camshaft timing, two features that, taken together, provide very smooth idle with high horsepower and torque numbers, as well as excellent fuel economy and emissions performance, numbers not revealed at the moment. Initial power figures are 155 horsepower and a 145 foot-pounds of torque using a very high 12:1 compression ratio, previously suitable only for racing engines. Later on, there will be a turbocharged 1.6-liter EcoBoost version of this engine offered to the performance-minded buyer, and still later, Ford may offer a common-rail direct-injection diesel version, already slated for Europe, a hybrid version, and a battery electric version.

Ford Taurus SHO

Ford Taurus SHO

It's called the Ford Taurus SHO which is inspired from Yamaha Motorcycle rev happiness. This is a very special design from the company for their special customers. The model is also distinct from its engine from its 3.5L Eco boost V-6 applications which we have seen in Lincoln MKS.
The horsepower is more then the MKS by 10 units just so Ford 2011 has something to brag about in front of their competitors. However the torque remains limited to the same 350 pound-feet all of which is produced between 1500-5000 RPM respectively.

Interior & Comfort
The interior has never been neglected by Ford. You get nice comfortable seats with a treat for the eyes kind of interior with nice lighting and colors to spice up things a bit. Ford has adequately managed to remove various obstacles into their progress which need to be updated by MKS if they wish to continue into the market. Everyone has their own choice but after this we surely recommend the Ford Taurus SHO for those looking to buy a car in this range.

Performance
There have been a lot of small tweaks to the engine parts to fetch out the even the very last drop of performance the engine can produce, its used up nicely through six speed automatic transmission which is added with paddle shifting system and higher capacity clutch materials. The car also features Haldex type all wheel drive system that comes with an Eco boost Lincoln. Ford also enjoys a lighter car with comfortable performance advantage in comparison to its rival Lincoln MKS. You also get bigger brakes and sharper calibration of the standard electric power steering system, basically the base SHO is faster and sportier than the base Taurus and MKS. The 20 inch wheels add essential grip through Goodyear's Eagle f1 summer tires.
